London Fashion Week AW13 - Day 5.

11:51

Months ago, I had a "omg I want a Saree" moment. I just think Saree's are absolutely beautiful! I wanted it to definitely have a Jennifer Agwunobi twang to it too, so for months I was researching, sourcing material, embellishments, deciding on colours - it was so exciting to think of all the possibilities!

Saree's aren't actually as difficult to make as they seem, It's 7 yards of fabric in total plus your chosen amount of embroidery. I decided on a gorgeous deep purple with gold (& a hint of emerald) detailing. As for putting it on, well that isn't as easy as it seems but I did it all on my own WITHOUT PINS and I was so proud!

You know I love polka dots right? & OMG look there are polka dots on the Saree, woop woop - just thought I'd let that one in! Oh and say bonjour to my plum lips, it's a Deep Orchid by Avon, the closest to the shade of purple that I've been longing for :)

Even though I was planning for months, as you all know I'm one of the most last minute people ever and I didn't get to wear as much jewellery as I wanted to on this day. In actual fact, my "headpiece" here is a necklace which I borrowed from either my mum or sister (who knows!) the morning of Day 5, I just used bobby pins to keep it in place. However for anyone looking to re-create this Sari/Saree look, I'd definitely recommend going OTT (over the top) with the jewellery, seriously! I am completely in love with saree's now and will definitely be making lots more so I myself will be going over the top of the top and on top of that with my jewellery. That being said, I recently came across a jewellery website Seasons Online and tbh if you want to up your jewellery game, I suggest you check them out. Omg we should totally go on a challenge haha I'm proper excited now! With Saree's, up-dos look amazing so for my next Saree look I will be going for embellished hair pins like these. In this look I was wearing a low bun which took a minute to achieve; I do a lot of up-dos and simple accessories can really add instance elegance. Embellished accessories have been all over catwalks recently since SS13 to AW13 so what are we actually waiting for?
